HIPSTERS: (That one song from that one band you've probably never heard of)...A Poem by Dennis ShanabergThat one song from that one band you've probably never heard of
This is urban reconstruction,
Wearing plain plaid suburban clothes. Draw on generations from your parents. Hey, look, we're so original. With irony, Coffee and money. With smart cell phones- Free lance photos at every show we go. I've got music. Yours is the same. They sold out, F**k that. Yours is lame. We'd tell you who we are, But you probably couldn't get it. We'd tell you who we like, But we know you have never heard of them. We'd raise our hands in the air, But with our tight shirt attitudes, we can't. We'd try to change the world, But ...F**k that. This is the hippy reformation, Ending peace/love/idealistic goals. Read the writing on the coffee shop wall Scrawled in white helvetica. With cigarettes, Records and cassettes. With alcohol An inner-city, skinny white kid brawl. Parents got money. I want fame. Buying drugs, not strings. Who's to blame? We'd tell you who we are, But you probably couldn't get it. We'd tell you who we like, But we know you have never heard of them. We'd raise our hands in the air, But with our tight shirt attitudes, we can't. We'd try to change the world, But where's the irony in that? We'd tell you who we are, But you probably couldn't get it. We'd tell you who we like, But we know you have never heard of them. We'd raise our hands in the air, But with our tight shirt attitudes, we can't. We'd try to change the world, But ...F**k that. © 2010 Dennis ShanabergReviews
