Cliched Hooks About Paradoxical Love

Cliched Hooks About Paradoxical Love

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
"

just a quick little song about love and its complexities

"
It's a paradox;
It's modern love-
This love-hate relationship.
I love to hate you;
I hate your love,
But it's all that I can get.
Oh-this paradox-
This makes no sense,
Like Patrick Dempsey in a party dress.

So, say, Hey
Hey-ey...
I've got something to say-
Say-ay...
Oh yeah-I got something to say
To you baby.

Hey there, mourning dove,
I need your love,
And the tears that you imbue.
Got stars in yours eyes
That your cries deny,
But there's nothing I can do.
I can't do this now.
You're on your own.
The past is past, and all is through.

So, say, Hey
Hey-ey...
I've got something to say-
Say-ay...
Oh yeah-I got something to say
To you baby.

In that, I'd race over states to save face,
But over continents if you needed me.
I would raze the world to save the girl,
But, baby, you can't be the girl for me.
You've got my heart, my girl,
But not my hands.
There's no way I can make anyone understand.
No matter what I sayy, can't make you understand.
It's a stained glass speck in your stained glass eyes,
But in my eyes all my lies do lie.

So, I say, Hey
Hey-ey...
I've got something to say-
Say-ay...
Oh wait-There's nothing left to say
To you baby.
