"One Last Chance" ...to be continued

A Story by Dennis Shanaberg

That day was my best friend's funeral.
There was a car accident.  One of my neighbors, a mother was speeding, and turned around to yell at her kids.  She failed to see the red light, and my best friend's life ended in that moment.  She and her kids were fine.
At the funeral, his Uncle came towards me and started talking.  We spoke of how sudden it all was, how unexpected.  We talked about living each moment as though it were your last.  He then proposed the question, "What would you do if you only had one last chance in this life?"
the question stayed with me.  It was forever there now.  It would creep up and shout at me when least I expected it.  "One last chance."  "What would you do?"
These words now plagued my every solitary moment.  Would that final action be for love or for glory; would I help someone or just do something for myself?  And why shouldn't it be selfish?  It was MY last chance.  I could even try something illegal or at least something deemed immoral.  MY last act.  Or should I instead do something for others.  Let me last act be selfishly making a selfless mark on the world.  Then again, perhaps it is all about love.  I could go on a date or even make love to a girl that I'd always adored.
And that girl was Angelika.  But she liked to go by Angie.  She and I were walking together beneath the stars, along with two of our other friends.  Our hands brushed against one another for an instant and my heart pounded against my chest.  The words breathed from the darkness.  "What would you do?"  I looked into Angie's eyes and finally, I knew.

Author's Note

Dennis Shanaberg
This is the narration to a short film that I want to make in the near future.
The ending is left off on purpose because why would you watch the film if you already know the ending.
Just to give you a hint...
The film is actually a comedy.

Tell me what ya think so far.
