You Are the Wedge Driven Between Us

You Are the Wedge Driven Between Us

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg

It was an accidental shame
That led to incidental blame.
But can you blame
Someone for an accident
When the end was never meant?

You are a stubborn mule.
You run on overpriced fuel.
The wheels are turning slower.
The headlights meanly glower.
Anyone who looks into them
Drives off course.
You’re such a stubborn horse.

Can’t we just turn over a new leaf.
Or should we leave you alone.
You’ll be back in another week.
Your loneliness is starting to grow.
I know.
Your loneliness only grows
Even though you got to go.

It was an accidental shame
That led to incidental blame.
But can you blame
Someone for an accident
When the end was never meant?

You are the alarm that wakes me.
You are the ticking that hates me.
The bells o’ brass ring ever louder.
The shaking makes the sound ever odder.
Maybe it is on it’s way
To falling apart.
Your time is coming apart.

It was an accidental shame
That led to incidental blame.
But can you blame
Someone for an accident
When the end was never meant?
These lives are up for rent.

Well first of all I love how you started with one line,("It was an accidental shame
That led to incidental blame.
But can you blame Someone for an accident
When the end was never meant?")and ended it with the same line but only with one sentence different.I admire the 5th line,it was perfectly executed.
Nice Job!
