Gold Streets and Old Friends

Gold Streets and Old Friends

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
"

Heaven had better house more friends than just Jesus

"

Oh if I die
If I go up in the sky
Oh me -Oh my
Will I go live up high
I don’t know.
Or go low.
You know
To the place down below.
I don’t know
Now.
You’ve got me doubting.

But we all die.
We all wonder why.
Oh yes...
We all die
And we wonder why
Oh where do we go.
Does anyone know?
Oh we all know
That everyone goes
Away.

And so my friends
That everyone knows.
Oh I know.
I know all of these friends
That you know.
And we all wonder
Where they’ll go.
Oh no.
Where will they go?
I know
That I don’t know.
Oh no.
Where do we go?

Because if go live on high
Life in the sky
And live with Christ
And all those righteous guys.
I want to know
Is it still heaven
If there’s no one I know
I know
That it can’t be heaven
Because heaven ain’t home
Without those friends I’ve come to know.
Oh-no.
It’s not heaven
Without the ones who make it home.

Author's Note

Dennis Shanaberg
Another one just written on the spur of the moment.
I was feeling kind of pisses until I wrote it...
It wasn't even really what I was thinking about, but I felt better afterwards.
Tell me what ya think.
