Product of Boredom

Product of Boredom

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
"

When fickle hearts grow too content...

"

I slept for days
And cried at night
After your old car pulled away.
The airport sang
And rasped jet fuel
As our old elephant was hanged.
A room we had with old decor.
And now you complain that you are bored.
Well then, I think that you should have stayed.

I couldn’t believe that you had gone,
But now I see that I was wrong.
Because the parts of you that I saw
Were never there at all.

Where have all your emotions gone?
And what will you do when we are gone-
Everyone you have loved?
Everyone you have wronged?
Gone away.

We met in dark
That last year night
And I thought that I was so smart.
You gave your hand
And let me smile
As we forgot about your man.
The one of which you left me for.
And now you complained that you are bored.
Well then, I think that you should’ve stayed.

Where have all your emotions gone?
And what will you do when we are gone-
Everyone you have loved?
Everyone you have wronged?
Gone away.

Now, how did we reach where we are?
And it’s not just me that you led so far
Away?
Astray?
I am not sure who you are anymore.
You can’t just have fun because you are bored
Today.

Where have all your emotions gone?
And what will you do when we are gone-
Everyone you have loved?
Everyone you have wronged?
Gone away.

I slept for days
And cried at night
After your old car pulled away.
Well then, I think that you should have stayed.

I couldn’t believe that you had gone,
But now I see that I was wrong.
Because the parts of you that I saw
Were never there at all.

This is a really touching poem? song? I can't really tell in this one.

I couldn't believe that you had gone,
But now I see that I was wrong.
Because the parts of you that I saw
Were never there at all.

This particular stanza got me by the heart and it made me think a lot about the past.
