Le Morte (The Quest for the White Knight)

Le Morte (The Quest for the White Knight)

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
"

It Ends in Death

"

Oh-oh-oh
Such high hopes
Oh-oh-oh
Such lost dreams

Oh-Oh White knight
Look at you now
Suburbia hasn’t been good to you.
Oh-oh white knight
Let’s take a look at you now
Suburban high life has taken you.

The water is doused with alcohol.
The water is mixed into more than wine.
Red cupped war zone.
The plastic remains.
The water is gone.
The alcohol makes you feel fine.

Oh-Oh White knight
Look at you now
Suburban life hasn’t been good to you.
Oh-oh white knight
Let’s take a look at you now
Suburban high life has taken you.

Is this it?Is this all there is?
Come on, sire.
Don’t you remember.
This isn’t it?
This isn’t all there is.
You young, sire.
Were the one who wrote the decree..

Oh-oh
Look out now.
Oh-oh
Your sins may have been found
Not by you
Not by me
Not by anyone else
But fate may have found a way
It may have just found a way to make you pay.

Oh-Oh White knight
Look at you now
Suburban life hasn’t been good to you.
Oh-oh white knight
Let’s take a look at you now
Suburban high life has taken you.
Oh-Oh White knight
Look at you now
Suburbia hasn’t been good to you.
Oh-oh white knight
Let’s take a look at you now
Suburban high life has taken you.
