Black SailsA Poem by Dennis ShanabergAnother dark song about...love, the end of the world, and boating...?Black sails at midnight. Red sails at dawn.
Everyone cowers in fright.
Now, that you’re gone.
The water is churning.
The skies are so black.
My mind keeps on turning.
Please, just come back.
Black sails, red sails.
Racing the sun.
Red sails, black sails.
Go till its done.
Black sails, red sails.
Chasing the moon.
Red sails, black sails.
I will catch up soon.
Don’t cry in the darkness.
I will be your light.
Don’t get lost in these buildings.
I’ll cure all your fright.
And if everything goes wrong.
If all love and hope is gone.
Climb aboard tonight.
We will make everything all right.
Just reach and take my hand.
We will sail until we reach the sand.
Black sails, red sails.
Racing the sun.
Red sails, black sails.
Go till its done.
Black sails, red sails.
Chasing the moon.
Red sails, black sails.
I will catch up soon.
Red sails at night
I will delight.
Red skies in the morning
I understand the warning.
Black sails at midnight.
Red sails at dawn.
Everyone cowers in fright.
Now, that you’re gone.
The water is churning.
The skies are so black.
My mind keeps on turning.
Please, just come back.
