Fate of the FutileA Poem by Dennis ShanabergTry to wrap your head around these
Trying to avoid fatality is futility,
If you know what I mean. If you’d seen what I’ve seen, You’d know that no one is mean. They just do what they do to survive, But no one makes it out alive. No! No one is mean, If you’d seen what I’d seen. Each breath is another towards the end, But it never ends, And nothing ever mends. What kind of message are we trying to send Because in the end No one ever buys it. If we all cry, Or if we all die, Will they buy it? Oh--for now, We’ll just leave a gentle sigh Before we wave good bye. Don’t ask questions. Don’t ask for love Because it isn’t here When the push comes to the Shove you over the edge-- Off of the ledge, And your mind is gone Before very long. Like a shot to the head. Seeing red. It’s all gone Before too long. It’s all gone. Oh yes-- It’s all wrong. I wish we all could win, But someone’s got to lose For someone to win Or else there is no sin. Without sin, There is no good, And if there isn’t good Then no one can win, And if no one can win, Then we all lose, And so I guess you’ve got to choose: Is it us or them. © 2011 Dennis ShanabergAuthor's Note
