Serenade

Serenade

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
"

A Love Song

"

You always confuse my being tired
With my being depressed.
You ask me how I am not distressed
When all my life's a mess.

My heart's on fire
And it's not bad.
A subtle frown
Doesn’t always mean I’m sad.
My depression was
A short lived fad.
Though I miss my friends
My heart's still glad.

I will miss you all, for a real long time
But my words are back, they want me to rhyme.
Moving into the sun, my ticking heart climbs.
My heart's been ticking, like a hand grenade.
Ready to go off, blowing up this parade.
I heard the ticking stop, as I wrote this serenade.

My heart's on fire
And it's not bad.
A subtle frown
Doesn’t always mean I’m sad.
My depression was
A short lived fad.
Though I miss my friends
My heart's still glad.

You always confuse my being tired
With my being depressed.
you ask me how I am not distressed
When all my life's a mess.

I say…
My heart's on fire
And it's not bad.
A subtle frown
Doesn’t always mean I’m sad
My depression was
A short lived fad.
Though I miss my friends
My heart's still glad.

The dark dragon's gone; from my heart he flew.
Now I feel you there, in my  heart you grew.
Carnation's petals, that a dove's wing blew.
You say you love me more, but I love you most.
With your hand in mine, I wouldn't mind to boast.
You've turned my  heart from cold, to so warm that it will roast.
You're greater than everything - everything - everything.
I love you more than anything - anything - anything.
Thank you, girl. you make me sing- make me sing - make me sing.

Blew me. I love it, especially the bridge? Chorus? I suck at poetry, but I love this one.
