Here Be DragonsA Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
And now I find
that my indecisive mind just tries to hide what lies inside from the world. The serpent curled with wings still furled - just waiting to lash out, thrash loud, fly high, and crash down. Just wanna bring an end to all you see - Everything that makes me be someone who is not me. So much rage locked in a cage - bars of self doubt, mores to lock down. What’s left is lame, shackled by shame and pent up pain. Am I what’s inside, Or am I the lie that I hide behind? Who knew a quiet, chided church mouse could hold a fire spitting serpent at bay? If that vermin’s vigil ever pauses, there’s no telling how the world may pay! © 2021 Dennis ShanabergReviews
