the insomniac’s lamentA Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
Late night musings
in a cold and quiet bed Hazily perusing tired thoughts inside my head Lifeless melancholy meets lightless ennui A constant reckoning with what it is that’s me The streetlights flicker outside blinded window panes Each night, left to wonder must we do this yet again? The insomniac’s lament A sleepless lullaby A silent serenade in darkness Till at last I close my eyes. © 2021 Dennis ShanabergReviews
