The Harpist & The Dragon

The Harpist & The Dragon

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg

Rise up, oh deadly Serpent!
The Strings stir you awake.
Please, sing your fiery harmony,
And satiate my wanton hate.

Demon, take to trebled wings!
Tempest winds, percussive beats.
Strumming claws striking notes,
As my foes fall beneath your heat.

The melody becomes menacing
As crescendos clap across the sky.
A lightning show accompanies
My draconic opera in flight.

My sweet music of destruction
Erasing towns like misplaced notes
Till all who sought to stop my song
Are gone and I’m alone.

With his audience exhausted,
The performer bows down back to land.
Glissando in the denouement,
Playing the end with trembling hands.

The dragon draws to the shadows
Where I had summoned him from sleep.
And so here ends our ardent duet.
With an embered grin, he turns to me.

Both n metaphor and from cation so fantasy this duet with a dragon is fantastic and hauntingly entertaining. It reads like a mystical intrigue. Kudos for the awesome flow and rhyming, I have more time to read this than watch the dragon warriors and Dracula movies. Kudos!!

Plz pleez do read and comment my newest poem too.

Yes, if we let the dragon loose, he will eventually get around to us. In psychological terms, those who give free vent to rage, to hate, to jealousy and all the other negatives, will sooner or later feel the effects in their own lives in any number of ways.
