Sunlit CandlesA Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
We’ve been burning the candle at both ends.
Maybe I will melt away with you. Waxing in love limned by moonlight, Warm bodies suffused with a morning dew. With summer days looming longer, we languish, Sometimes singed to a shorter fuse. Seared threads threatening to extinguish, But the flame, the darkness shall never imbue. A sleepless night, penning this by candlelight; The silhouette of your face is my muse. Coming dawn, the Southern Sun smugly rises - Cannot hold a candle to these dusky views. Through the day, you will be my light, Until the night, When I reignite with you. © 2019 Dennis ShanabergFeatured Review
