Post-Apocalyptic Sundae

Post-Apocalyptic Sundae

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg

This, here, is another post-apocalyptic Sunday;
Gather your kids and kneel to the fallen gods.
Here's the second coming of great fabled floods.
Gather the kings to pray that the flames may stop.

Ripped from the headlines of the centuries,
The worst moments of mankind's mad depravity.
This week's been a polarizing Polaroid of humanity,
Where we cut out all the hope, the goodness, and the charity.

Burn the witch
And move to the back of the bus.
Build the wall
To protect everyone from us.
Internment
And McCarthy;
Genocide
We can-nazi.

Repeating history
Seems to be
Our Manifest Destiny.

I did like this poem.
"Burn the witch
And move to the back of the bus.
Build the wall
To protect everyone from us.
Internment
And McCarthy;
Genocide
We can-nazi."
New world is changing for the worst. Old hate is coming back. This is very sad. I liked the above lines a lot. Thank you Dennis for sharing the powerful poetry.
