Breaks

Breaks

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg

Baby, I’m broke,

But you put me back together.

Maybe I’m broke,

But I’ll earn it all for you.

Maybe I’ll choke,

But you know it is was whatever.

Maybe I’m a joke,

But I’m laughing here with you.

Each working moment, I sit and wait

For blissful breaks from the day and day

With skin on skin on the beds we lay.

Touching tells things we cannot say.

Living for love felt face to face.

Moments memories cannot erase.

Every part of you my fingers trace

With soft skin so fair, like wedding lace.

Maybe, I’m cold,

Cuz I can’t control the weather.

Feelin’ like I’m old,

But I wanna grow that way with you.

Sitting up late,

Thinking about forever

And dreams untold

That I’ll share each day with you.

I like the poem. Had the feel of a song. I like the positive feel and the journey in the words. A very good ending to the excellent poetry.
