The Heaven Tense

The Heaven Tense

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
"

Riddled with ridiculous rosaries...

"

Believe.

Believe.

Believe in He.

Believe.

Believe in the Unseen.

Believe.

Believe.

Believe in Thee.

Believe.

Believe.

Believe in Me.

Riddled with ridiculous rosaries,

I’m required to know what they mean.

Bashfully beaten with the believin’ word,

While the works they do become obscene.

Hatred heaved out in the heaven tense

Has a holier harridan sheen.

Carefully crossing off those unclean

From the comfortable Christly scene.

We clean.

We cull.

We remand them all.

They’ll fall

Unseen.

Till they’re all like me.

So very very true..........

this is a beautiful piece...but sometimes I think that is it that God is actually unseen or are we the gods whose eyes have been dimed from seeing him...but either ways it is hard to convince people to believe in the unseen...

I can see this easily put into a song. I love the idea that you're pressing: that everyone wants to believe in something we cannot see or prove. Very nice (:

A powerful and strong emotional poem. I like the energy and the drive in your words. The poem open the door to conversation with no true answer. I like the flow of thoughts leading to the strong ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I love this. How do we follow those who cannot lead.
