In Flames

In Flames

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg

Tear down the door

And let yourself in

For you will never get

This chance again.

Burn down the house

Till we’ve just ashes.

And let the smoke rise"

Signs to the masses.

Everyone can see the change

Is comin’.

Everyone can see that we need it

Now.

Everyone can feel the change

Is needed.

So, if you feel it, too, show us

How

To shut it down

To cast them out

To lift us up

Toward even ground.

To play the game

And change the rules

No longer paid

To be their tools.

So, fight fire with fire,

And let it all come crumbling down.

Maybe, we can build it back from the ashes,

While everything else crashes

Down around them, down around us.

When there’s nothing left, we’ll all be the same.

And then you can finally trust

That the ways of old will be claimed in flames.
