To Drive with Abaddon

To Drive with Abaddon

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg

Oh me, Oh my--

I’ve got something in my eye,

Cuz my father taught me not to cry,

But never told me why.

Just gave me the tools

To help me keep my cool

In this empty pool

Of tears,

As I fill it with my fears

That I won’t be what I’m s’posed to be

And that I’ll miss that fatal destiny

That everyone always had said I’d see.

I think that I might be going blind--

Passing up yet another sign

As I drive on down to another time.

Speeding on with out direction

Swerving off with reckless abandon--

Pushing towards the end with Abaddon

at my side

as my guide

to the do or die

but he seems to think he’s made up my mind.
