Explosions in July

Explosions in July

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg
"

If Katy Perry had a better writer...

"

Explosions in the sky

And in this havocked mind--

The summer’s getting hot.

Momentum in movie scripts

While everyone just sits--

All would pass us by.

But for once the clock has turned to me,

And asked the what the f**k I’m s’posed to be...

Oh--I’ve finally seen

The victory

Of me.

And this time I mean

Everything I seem

To

Say.

This time

I’ve found

The time

To move past the time

To pay for crimes

Looked at by fathered eyes.

This time,

No lies--

Alive

Till I die.

Sunsets in July

Used to f**k with my mind.

But the past is past

And you cannot last

If you let it get you down.

Success is just failed failures found,

And to realize that gets you off the ground.

Like fireworks in summers skies,

We can burn up till we die.

I love the heat

Burning in the streets--

The fire in clouds.

The heat should burn

At the heart of us--

Till our explosions are our final sound.
