Defusing the BombA Poem by Dennis Shanaberg1, & 2, & 3, &-- Four thousand degrees At the heart of me This is the end of everything you’ve ever seen. Run in all directions. Oh--This destruction Will be greater than anything you’ve ever dreamed. I can barely breathe. My brow, it perspires. I think that I might die. Oh--It’s looking dire. I’m defusing the bomb. I’m cutting the wire. I’m watching the countdown Till it’s all on fire. Things are about to explode. All that I know Is that this life has led me to this moment. Flames contained in some clay-- Night turned to day. Face in the inferno; How is it that I know it? Oh wait---I am the bomb, And I’m going to go off In 3, 2, 1.... © 2013 Dennis ShanabergReviews
