Sandy's Crying Crocodile Tears

Sandy's Crying Crocodile Tears

A Poem by Dennis Shanaberg

The wind took me by the coat

That I’d worn to keep out the cold--

It swept me down the avenue

Along with anything that it could hold.

Water fell in diagonals

Piercing us into puddles.

The world was hazy in those streams

The view is now ever muddled.

I find myself singing in the rain,

“Oh rain, rain go away”,

But I feel it in my brain--

As the raindrops keep falling on my head.

Water works from the water tower.

The citizens all sit and cower

As the storm blows in.

The preacher says it’s all for their sins.

It’s to wash away the dirt and disease.

My home’s been washed away with me

In it.

Oh no--Now I think I get it.

A very good job. I like this poem. This poem can make you sit down and think about like. There are a lot of good questions asked here.

I don't know if we can blame God? Mother Nature can be hard on man. Her strength can't be equal. I like the many places and questions create by your poem. A strong ending to a outstanding poem.
