Sandy's Crying Crocodile TearsA Poem by Dennis ShanabergThe wind took me by the coat That I’d worn to keep out the cold-- It swept me down the avenue Along with anything that it could hold. Water fell in diagonals Piercing us into puddles. The world was hazy in those streams The view is now ever muddled. I find myself singing in the rain, “Oh rain, rain go away”, But I feel it in my brain-- As the raindrops keep falling on my head. Water works from the water tower. The citizens all sit and cower As the storm blows in. The preacher says it’s all for their sins. It’s to wash away the dirt and disease. My home’s been washed away with me In it. Oh no--Now I think I get it. © 2012 Dennis ShanabergReviews
