The One-Man MassacreA Poem by Dennis ShanabergAnother heart in my hands-- (oh--the) plans of mice and men; I squeeze too hard. Always bow to their demands. (I’m) lynching all their love; Chests stabbed with shards. I am a one man massacre Stabbing the heart of her and her and her. It’s not what I would ever choose Cuz everyone I’ve met seems to lose.
Will fall at the hands of me. Every person I touch Comes to hate me so much. Everyone I love Leaves when the pushing meets the shove. I am so alone Because it’s all I’ll let myself know. Always say I’ve changed--oh--I’ll be different. My head agrees, but my heart never meant it. Please believe me what I say “don’t believe me" Because my head and heart even deceive me. © 2012 Dennis ShanabergReviews
