We are the tortured souls.

We are your day and night.

We are the homeless boys.

The puppets of your spite.

Held us captive in your hands.

Remorse was absent from you.

Caged us in your zoo.

Amusement from our throats did we spew.

I am the freak that you mock!

I am the wretch that you stalk!

Pierce me with the steel spear!

Still I'll hold back the tears!

You can throw out the key!

Blind me so I can't see!

But do what you want!

because soon I'll break free!

I stand before you in spite no longer,

I can live without you, everybody knows.

The day has come, and the light that I see,

words whispered to my soul, I'm finally free...

Running, crawling, out of breath....

you tell me that there's nothing left?

Who are you to count our steps....

tell us of impending death.

Don't you see what's wrong with you?

You underestimate what's ever true.

For when night surrenders to the dawn.

The curse will lift, and make free your pawns.

I stand before you in spite no longer,

I can live without you, everybody knows.

The day has come, and the light that I see,

words whispered to my soul, I'm finally free...

There was a flame in my eye you'd never extinguish,

a will in my soul you'd never relinquish.

You spent your days looking from the outside in,

laughing at me in the corner with your smug little grin.

And I'd falter because of your bitter word,

but even the ugly duckling became a beautiful bird...

I used to hide in myself to escape your disdain,

lost faith in myself before you turned ambition to pain.

It's sad today when I look back at the past,

You thought I was trash, but now I laugh last.

The day has come now I've grown stronger,

found the strength in healing from the blows.

And I stand before you in spite no longer,

I can live without you, everybody knows.

The day has come, and the light that I see,

words whispered to my soul, I'm finally free...

And I stand before you in spite no longer,

there's no point in insecurity, everybody knows.

Endless tears have we shed.

Countless days have we grieved.

Your grip is cold as ice.

You're poison to the head...

We've surrendered everything.

There something left that you see?

Just denounce us from your camp.

I've lost my will to breathe.

But I'll be the dream that will haunt!

I'll be the dead that will walk!

Like the blade that is night!

We are the asps that will strike!

So cower fiend at the dawn!

Tremble at what you've spawned!

Because we're burning this book!

We're stealing back what you took!

You know I fought myself as I fell to your control,

I buried myself as I lay in your little hole.

Now I thank you for all the words, the scars,

the bitter motivation that lit up these stars...

I stand before you in spite no longer,

I can live without you, everybody knows.

The day has come, and the light that I see,

words whispered to my soul, I'm finally free...

Shrouded in darkness, we defend the dream,

support the hopeful, and live the unreal.

Protected within light, we foresee your scheme,

I've learned to silence the threat before it goes for the kill...

We are the new light shining bright in your shadow,

we've now become the rosebush in your desert meadow...

I stand before you in spite no longer,

I can live without you, everybody knows.

The day has come, and the light that I see,

words whispered to my soul, I'm finally free...

forgiven, but alas,

all thine sins remembered.
