Pregnant

Pregnant

A Poem by Demosthenes
"

Hah.

"

I am male born
Human not woman but man

Determined from birth to never know
What it is to be pregnant
Alas I fear this is quite fine by me
I have no need pee and bleed from the same place
nor have some New born burst its way forth
in gooey slime coated bloody red from toe to head
In this respect I am typically male

Though never may I experience
carrying and bearing a living child
within me I am well accustomed
to pregnancy

I am pregnant with ideas
Thoughts and stories untold
All born of my heart and head
Born of the fertile fields of my life
From the womb of my soul
And the seed of my blood
And tongue and hand

I bring to life something
Unwhole and growing
to pass from me as a child from it’s mother
With labor and pain and love
My words they are born from within me
To without me
To ink and page and into your heart
To reside and live on in love
