Life in Word

Life in Word

A Poem by Demosthenes
"

Not much to say.

"

Singing softly, souls in bones,
lose sight of hope and light.

Sorrow seeps deeply
Down tracks marked
In blood

Rage. Frustration. Despair.
Scars cut burning in
The Dark

Jealous grasping gripping grime
Stealing Joy
Love and Laughter

Time sloughing off as snake skin cloth
Ripping. Shredding. Tearing hearts.
Torn piece by piece by piece
Slow agony
Utter defeat.

Bone weary.
Drenching. Soaking. Sapping cold.
Frozen stygian depths of
Unequivocal solitary emptiness

Desperate ranting raving wrath
Staving off Loneliness
The aching creeping snare
The heat of hate and bitter tales
Dusty cob-webbed resentments
Kindled continuing surviving
Existence.

Not Life
Not Death

Undying. Unremitting
Marching misery

I appreciate the contrast. You're trying to mix big words with short, snappy lines. The imagery is powerful and, line by line, my mind is wandering off to imaginationland. A very nice piece.
