Whats Happened To Reality?

Whats Happened To Reality?

A Poem by Demmi

I stare in shock into the darkness around me, what have I just seen?

 What horrors have found me?

The most vivid of images, the colours and all, how could it be, I felt it all.

Just lying in my bed, almost asleep.

It’s late at night, but it’s not a dream.

My body is shaking, where have I been?

As if my mind had drifted, to another place, unseen.

I had a vision, though not a happy sight.

My world all too suddenly, went from calmness to fright.

In this vision I saw, an injured me, all crumpled and hurt, how could it be?

I’m at home safely cuddled in my bed.

Who would have believed what I just said?

Around me were people, of all different races.

Curiously looking, but staying their places.

Then one little girl, no older than nine, she was so close, I could see her eyes.

They saw my pain, they wanted to help.

I must be insane, there’s no way I could've felt,

The wind in my hair as I looked up, to see her outstretched hand, eyes full of doubt.

Doubt about what? Doubt that I would live?

That I was lying here, in the middle of this road, blood splattered around me, beside a car being towed?

Was I hit by a car??

Someone tell me what happened?!

But no one says a word, they are all silent.

I am shaking.

But I’m in my bed, safe and warm, blood splatters gone.

Anyone please, tell me what happened?

But no one replies, because I’m all alone.
