MuseA Poem by Summer D.If only I had an ace.Muse There is such a thingMuse; as trying your welcome. Risky; playing cards A penny to name What more do you have to play? Gamble your own soul. I did not listen. Conned by a man of shadows. Lift the mask to breathe. The maiden was I. Lonely and troubled of mind. Clay to be molded. That cold night you came. Frost tapped at my window sill. It demanded you! In a swirl of black. Quick! Upon your midnight horse. We rode from hells hounds. You kissed me farewell And promised me you’d back There you rode upon light Never to return. I held to spools of thin hope. You’d return for me. It was many years In a street fair I saw you Ragged, withered, and worn You did not see me Gone were your indigo eyes. Priceless to all" but. Fled; in agony. Buried among the olives. I bid you farewell. I am old and still. You, the Duke, remain my muse. Time has not been kind. What could've-Had been. A mask of my own being? A card; to trump all. Lady D. Also Known As: Aisha_U © 2012 Summer D.Author's Note
