The Role Playing Game

The Role Playing Game

A Poem by Amplefyre
"

About how I feel, sometimes.

"
I was given a role, that I was told to play
I wondered why, and they said to pray

Then I asked God, and heard no reply
They told me how great, yet I could only sigh

If life had meaning, I thought, it wouldn't be so sad
If I work hard, I mused, I could be quite glad

Emptiness is free, of this I know
Happiness is earned, and not His to bestow

Threw away my role which was given, happy to earn my own keep
And sadness would be left far behind, so that I need no longer weep

My path is my own, I made it that way
I seek not forgiveness, just for my say

When at Death's door, they will ask for things of my make
And to be judged not for faults, but for paths I did not take

This poem was a bit confusing but I like it. The last line is my favourite "and to be judged not for fault, but for the paths I did not take" because it is very true. I believe that in live we are assigned a role but it is our choice whether we follow it or create our own....the world is full of people who don't stick to their roles and it is a better place because of that e.g. Rosa Parks. Great job!
