Once AgainA Poem by Delmar CooperSeasonalOnce Again
I enjoy my bouts of depravity All autumn the voyeur extraordinaire I’ve watched them change clothes Green to yellow, and orange, and red (Red is my favorite, unsubtle, unabashed, undressed) Now I eavesdrop, hear their titillating gossip Listen to candid confession, desire and need They are close to letting go, I know these things Have some experience you see The whispers of the strange one they met In heat In summer The one who wrapped up close and slept next to them Only to awake, disrobe and change One they alleged of unnatural beauty Whom they have imitated all fall The one they watched leave them And flutter by, away in brief flight Crispy brown turned orange and erotic black Hear their envy, I do Now in a cacophonous symphony they let go Indulge in brief flight The ecstasy of the moment Now gasping on the ground In the arms of Gaea Sleeping for as many years as it takes To do it once again With me there to watch Once again © 2020 Delmar CooperFeatured Review
