Felis

Felis

A Poem by Delmar Cooper

Felis silvestris catus

Common ideas, which is to say misconceptions,

Abound.

About cats.

Which is to mean both “in regard of”

And

“Surround.”

As to purpose?  It is to apprehend unto death the bird, the squirrel, the chipmunk, et cetera.

Words are slippery as cats.  Cats understand slow chipmunks,

And when the munks are completely slow,

Understand them completely.

There, that’s settled.

Cat religion  is an oxymoron,

Multiple transmigration is moronically attributed, but

Once is cat sufficiency,  purr excellence.

As to the matter and manner of disrobing…

This opinion is only one of many.

The notion of "purr excellence" brought me to mind of that entrepreneur deluxe of Hooterville, Eustace Haney, who once referred to a "dead" plastic cow as the "corpus delicious". This does not come with a laugh track; it's more languid, easy-going, the work of the storyteller as opposed to the sitcom writer--Hal Holbrook's one-man Twain show, perhaps. It's rare when one finds such a feel for narration and cats as well.

Essence of wittiness. Not a fan of cats, probably because I'm jealous of their lack of neediness, which pops up from time to time in myself. But going on that tangent, they are a representative of certain aspects of our personality and deserve to humiliate us with their reflection. So in the idea of cats as a visiting muse; I have this really ugly one that's been hanging out lately. She's by no means beautiful, but scraggly and I'm glad to have her around for as long as she wants to stay.

Cats are in the same category as porch furniture once in place - ubiquitous.

Unless the dogs chase her away.
Is there a beast more resilient? I mean, nine lives?
It really does allow room for trial and error. No wonder they always seem so nonchalant in their manner.

Loved this, very interesting piece about these sexy little beasts.
About the disrobing... It made my mind go elsewhere of course.

The intent was to hint at ways to skin a cat, but whatever...

Cats are like ideas they don't come at your bidding.
This is excellent. Often people have questioned the purpose of house cats. A little furry monster predator we feed and coddle. Interesting all around this piece.

My cats ( they would object to the possessive pronoun ) are above purpose.
When the tongue-in-cheek ...isn't
and the ayes glisten
I'm reminded of THAT look
in her eyes
and the way her body
just leans into ...absolutely nothing
...just as she bites her lower lip.

Puuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Thanks for reading. Just some thoughts on words and cats.
