When

When

A Poem by Delmar Cooper

When

My mother died

The moon bled

Red red moon

Blood red

The moon bled again

Red again

And my father died

So my life with destiny

And the almanac

 Until October

 Red October

I lost my father a few years back, I'm saying that so any flippancy can be cast aside. But death is awful strange when you take a step back from it. Your well written poem reminds me of the superstition of threes and so far that one hasn't disappointed. I've lost everyone on my father's side and that's the way it went. It's like they got together and said "Ok, I'm going. Who's coming with me?" So if that almanac you have is still somewhat conclusive, I would like a copy of it.

The efficient use of words and ongoing repetition gives an anxious feeling. Well done.
