The Fire WithinA Poem by Elizabeth GonzalezA small poem about the struggle of falling in loveIts that numb feeling when he's not around, or the sparks he ignites with a simple touch. It’s the trail of heat he leaves with a single glance, the feeling of wanting what I don’t want. That first bite into the forbidden fruit, the addicting delicious bittersweet taste of reality that pushes me over the edge with zero chance of making it out unharmed.
Its that raging fire at the pit of my stomach that consumes every single part of me, that small sizzling flame that will be the death of me. I will hold on with everything I have left, I will not let go of the thin string that is my sanity, I will not bow to this excessive longing that’s eating me from the inside out, but most importantly I will not submit to the fire within. © 2014 Elizabeth GonzalezAuthor's Note
