Dirty DreamsA Poem by DeliriousCerisesThose dreams that were forgotten or beat down. The original "99 cent dreams"Just a one time thing And then it'll be over When the world won't sing What will you do? A car pulls up, A girl gets out Another ride without luck Another, "screw you" They say make lemonade From those bitter lemons But what you craved Was purple grape juice Have you ever seen a tragedy In your hometown menagerie? Travel the world to see what lies Behind those bright eyes When you saw the open door A dream you wanted You couldn't pay for Dirty urban streets offered a way Dreams without a wrong or right Bright Eyes, don't lose sight What you earned tonight Was a ten cent pay A saving grace Of making time To buy 99 cents On a dime Everyone has one A forgotten dirty dream Left in the gutter Envisioned, but not achieved Needing a dollar or more, In a world of dimes How do you pay for Dreams on a dirty sign What to give? What to take? Some dreams live And some dreams break © 2012 DeliriousCerisesAuthor's Note
