GoodbyeA Poem by DeliriousCerisesAn ode to who I used to be, and feeling disconnected from who I am becoming. Kind of a narrative on personal growth.I killed that little girl The one staring back at me When I shattered her face
A case of the Humpty-Dumpty We put her back together As everything she never wanted to be
I fell in love with that girl And then she ran away with you But I'm hollow because I killed her too
She haunts me on stormy nights In salty reflections Until my eyes run dry
Then I wave goodbye To that old shade of me When all is done and said
Now this girl is all I can see A stranger staring straight ahead With empty eyes and a familiar smile Just a ghost of the dead © 2012 DeliriousCerisesAuthor's Note
