The Strange Note

What happens when Angela receives a strange note?

"

Angela O’Shea was lying in her bed thinking of the boy she’s had a crush on since third grade. Lawrence Baker had the sweetest sky blue eyes she’d ever seen. His hair was the blackest of blacks and his skin was of the milkiest color. He wasn’t very muscular, but he was incredibly intelligent. In her eyes, he was to die for.

Angela brushed her silky blonde hair out of her face and got up to take a nice long hot bath. This was her favorite thing to do, especially after a long day of nothing but school and petty drama. Hot baths helped her to relax and take her mind off everything.

As soon as she got everything around for her bath, she went in and drew the water. When the tub was full, she undressed and sank into the tub very slowly. She relaxed in the water and thought more about Lawrence. How weird would it be if he were to walk in right now? She thought.

As soon as she thought those words, the door opened and a paper airplane flew in and the door was shut again. Angela blinked a couple of times and got up to retrieve the paper aircraft.

When she picked it up, she noticed that it was covered in words. She got back into the tub, trying hard not to get the note wet, and began to read:

Dearest Love,

I know you may not know who I am, but I have loved you since the third grade. I often try to hide my feelings when I’m around you, but I can’t anymore. I want a relationship. When you get this note, meet me by the willow tree in the downtown park. I shall be waiting.

Love,

L.B.

P.S. Sorry about interrupting your bath. I handed this note as a paper airplane to your brother, Frankie, and asked him to fly it into whichever room you were in.

After she read the note, she contemplated its contents. Could it be true? Could Lawrence have really sent this note? What if it isn’t? What if Frankie wrote this as one of his evil schemes to embarrass me?

A thought suddenly occurred to her right after she thought of all those questions: The only way to find out would be to investigate.

She quickly got out of the tub to dress and discover if her brother was guilty of writing such an intimate note. When she was dressed, she flew down the stairs and found Frankie lying on the couch with his spikey blonde hair in a mess. He immediately sat up when he saw his sister.

“What’s up?” He said casually, obviously hiding something.

“Did you write this note?” She asked, trying as hard as she could to keep her cool.

“No, I only delivered it. I swear,” he said as he put is hands up as if saying, “I surrender!” For once, Angela genuinely believed him. Frankie has always been a troublemaker and a liar, so he’s pretty hard to trust.

Angela went back upstairs to put on a jacket. When she found her jacket she went back downstairs and walked out the door without so much as a goodbye or another word to her brother.

Angela finally made it to the park without too much trouble this time. Usually she is bombarded with dogs running after her. Not just the animals either. Today was a good day, though. Hardly anyone chased her.

Angela knew exactly which tree she was looking for and began to stride towards it. When she saw that no one was at the tree, she decided to sit at the base of the trunk and wait. The wait took longer than expected and she began to drift off to sleep.

Next thing she knew, Angela was being shaken awake on the shoulder. When she opened her eyes, hers bore into the most beautiful sky blue eyes. Before she could fathom what was happening, Lawrence lifted her off the ground so she could stand. Then, he suddenly hugged her.

“I’m not much for words, but I love you and I don’t’ care if you reject me or not,” he whispered in her ear.

Hearing this only made her hug him tighter and she said, “I’ve loved you since the third grade. I love you so much,” she whispered back.

He then suddenly let go and she leaned back and felt his soft lips on hers. It was right then that she heard her alarm go off.

Oh what a sweet, perfect little story. Yes, it was all a dream. But I really like how light and adorable this is.
