fun fact: I am not a pile of fractions,

I do not fit into a neatly checked box, that threatens

like a innocuous coffin, to kill creativity as surely as a coffin nail

(six minutes less of life)

although the second hand smoke causes tumors of conformity

there is no cure,

once you're in the box, you're trapped

 

fun fact: people get angry at those without their boxes

at the healthy individuality that thrives outboxside

(like mint, like weeds)

and the boxless live on their disdain for the boxed

but (everyone has a butt)

there is no need to break a mold here,          

there never was one to begin with

(a mold I mean…penicillin? yeast? Aspergillus?)

 

fun fact: I am not Black, or White, Asian or Hispanic, Native American or pacific islander

I am not an M or an F

I am not my age or my social security number

I am not a mirror for my generation

I am not a patchwork Frankenstein's monster made of these

disparate data points

I am not a list of ideas

I am not a sterilized concept of a person

I am not a stack of idioms or epithets

(I am woman hear me roar, goddammit!)

I am not this poem

or these words

I am me, a person

complete

changing

under construction

 warning: dead end 80 years ahead

Fun fact:

there is no escape from being trapped in humanity

being free

(there is no spoon, Neo)

there is no other option

born this way, we live and age and die

all together

as a chorus of protests

confused as to what we want

positive it isn't what we have

sure we can do better that being ourselves

and that is the only fact the matters
