Mirros of our minds

Mirros of our minds

A Poem by Absentee Reality Check

Mirrors of our minds

The laughter flows gaily through the night
The sparkling eyes and smile just draw you in
But behind that mask in the mirrors of our minds
All our faults are reflected tenfold in size
They dominate the landscape of life
Overwhelming all the good things I have done
Deceptive sweetness drips from my lips
While I plot your down fall
I am treacherous not to be trusted
Never to be known fully by anyone
Alone in a sea of people
Adrift in a crowd of emotions
I am lost
I don’t know what to call myself
I am unsure
My goals no longer seem real
But that reflection in the mirror of your mind has stayed the same
In its reflection I have not changed
But it does not reflect me, only the tattered mask I wore
You will never know all of me until you break the mirror
And tear the masks from your own eyes
I am not the one who is blind
I see the world’s blindness
Let me help you see yourself.

This was an amazingly truthful description of how so many people interelate these days. I picked up a smidge of ego there at the end, but over all I agree with exactly what you are saying here.

People choose what they want to see, they are blind in that regard. I think it's a perpetual cycle that will continue in life until all the walls have been dropped, all the masks burned.

Great Insiteful piece!

I find it very interesting how you compare the unchanging image others have of us to a mirror reflecting the ever same picture despite all the changes taking place in reality and then mix up that thought of a wrong permanent impression with that of false pretense that is to mask the real character and feelings behind the disguise.
I believe both is troublesome: That people don't see each other for who they really are now, and that we lead them on on purpose.
A very good poem!
