Morbid Curosities

Morbid Curosities

Morbid curiosities

A ring of hollow men stands,

 A Circlet of stony visages

Crowning the mountaintop

With blank eyes watching

As leaden wings spread

In a mockery of flight

And pale veined marble skin cools

While the sun drifts off to sleep

And the dreaming moon awakes

To oversee these

Frozen souls, frail and

Fragile as an egg, abandoned memories

Of time, framed in alabaster unmarked

Who are you?

And what secrets do you hold

Behind ossuary gates,

What treasure do you guard in

That necropolis, standing in life’s likeness

On the edge of death?

Yes there is high class vocabulary and there are some lines which have certain fragility to them which makes them more beautiful in their imbued sadness...
Frozen souls, frail and

Fragile as an egg, abandoned memories

Of time, framed in alabaster unmarked

Who are you?...i liked that stanza.

certainly a write to stir ones brain cells into thought. Made me think of the rings of standing stones common in the British isles no one really knows what purpose the served. Presented in very well written poetic prose demonstrating a high class vocabulary
