The Limits Of Skin(You are a seven year old phoenix)

The Limits Of Skin(You are a seven year old phoenix)

A Poem by Absentee Reality Check

Not all of you grows older.
You are a skeleton of freeze frames.
Your smile is five years old.
Your flinch is twenty.

Your joints hold the map
of a thousand ill advised motions.
Your freckles are fading. They are keeping the secret that
You used to love the sun.

Your feet stopped growing when you turned sixteen.
The calluses are new.
You have paced the space between then and now.
You have grown into your footprints.

One of the most beautiful meditations I have ever read on the appreciation of soemone's growing older. I love the idea of growing into one's footprints. it has the ring if universal truth to it.
