I'm Tired Of The Dark

I'm Tired Of The Dark

A Poem by DeirdreInShadows

Darkness,
You can't see what lies ahead,
only monsters stay under your bed.
The monsters whisper your name
and ask you to come play their game.
The fear makes you cry and scream,
and parents rush in to tell you, "it's just a dream!"
The darkness knows the secrets you hide,
making you relive them like a roller coaster ride.

It leaves you breathless and scared,
because all the monster fangs are bared.
It makes you think of the trauma you've faced,
sorrow, hatred and lust are all laced,
in the wide toothy grin of death,
oozing out its putrid breath.

I'm tired of the dark.

I'm glad you didn't mention the one's in the closet.

I enjoyed my brief stay on your poem. Read it a bunch of times. Nice work.
