Sweeping Up Tears...

Sweeping Up Tears...

A Poem by Butterfly Effect ~
"

I got to see my 14 year old daughter today for only hours... this is about our parting.

"

time...
today slipped on ice
racing out of control
seconds became minutes
minutes became hours
hours framed the fall
of time
today

i tried to slow times race
to no avail
my effort only left me tired
and bruised of heart
hungry for more
as if i have never tasted the heaven
of her smile

as our day overflowed
like a broken dam
held back by memories
and pain
of so many days demise of past
we summoned every bit of energy
to hold
still the clock

shhhhh....
little baby
don't say a word
mama's gonna buy you a mocking bird
lullaby's half sung
forehead kisses
fingertips pried and then undone
time raced past us
now
our day is done

yes, today
time slipped on ice
then it crashed
and left me at the scene
to sweep up all the tears
and move memories back
to their proper lane
and dismantle her shadow
and pack it for the next rainy day
carefully prying our laughter from the air
i tenderly place each moment within my heart

and i will wait patiently for
times clock to grant me
another race
even knowing that
time will surely loose then too....
