Serving My Short Bus God...

Serving My Short Bus God...

A Story by Butterfly Effect ~

SHORT BUS GOD

Me and God... We go way back. I carry Him everywhere I go.
I carry God in my pocket. I have only encountered one problem when it
comes to keeping God with me. The problem is my pockets. It seems my
pockets have a lot of holes in them. So I lose God a lot.

In my defense I always go back to find God.
In His defense, I always do...

I find Him forgiving, loving and waiting on me to let Him sew up the holes
in my pockets once and for all. I think God is a God of the broken, insane
hurting people of this world who all have pockets with holes...

My God...

He is a "Short Bus" God...

He does not see His broken souled people as "defective". He sees us as perfection.
Our flaws do not make my God a remedial God. They only serve to prove His
existence and His unfailing love for us. So yeah... Me and God, we go way back.
And forward too.
Gotta run now. I have my first sewing lesson today.

Ricardo...

Ever had a well worn pair of jeans,,,,? Faded, soft with lots of fringe? The kind that slip onto your body as if they were buttered. A pair you scramble to find even when you have 10 other pairs you could wear? That is my God to me... ahhhhh yes, no, YES, YES, YES, I had had many times 'wearing another pair' of jeans in my life with God but I always come back to my favorite pair. Not out of a desperate identity crisis where I suddenly feel inadequate to deal with life and need a halo crutch, but I come back because my relationship with my 'short bus God' is exactly like my relationship to writing... It is a part of my soul. I am sure there will always be the great GOD debate but if you saw how I look in my 'FAT JEANS', even you might tell me to put my God threads back on. :) Thanks for the thoughts. They are food for my soul.

Dear Deidra,

Okay, nicely put. Very thought provoking.

Yes, we all have holes in our pockets. Some think that this shows that God is forgiving. Some think that this shows that there is no God. Up in the air.

How did your sewing lesson go? I find that there is no way to fix my pockets. And God just doesn't stay in there. So I stopped trying. In fact, I think that changing pants is the whole lesson to be learned.

Best regards,

Rick
