Rain behind my window

Rain behind my window

A Poem by Peter

My release is when I leave the world behind and enter my door
to the place that I can give way to my own thoughts
there is a fine particle floating through the trees magnified by the suns rays
it moves up, down, side to side gentle and light as air but its moment is brief
The fall sky fills with clouds
the sun gives way and allows the coming of the rain
From a warm cup of liquid I sip
in my quiet hidden little nook
As my mind goes off into the imaginary trip
from my window seat where I look

As the last warm wind blows the trees bend and sway
like a giant stretching after a leisurely day
shaking off the leaves of summer.
The squirrels run to hide no more time for play
the blue glow from the clouds fills the air
as the wind stops there is no movement
all birds find shelter and the sky is bare
the trees are all somber and their leaves grow quiet
in happy anticipation through my window I stare
As the first drops touch the glass, I feel the safety of the rain close away the world, it provides a wall to keep out  my worries and cares
The world becomes tranquil all living souls disappears and hide away
the trees stop stretching and the dust filtering through the air is no more

the steady falling of rain has a sound so restful
if only it washed away life's pain and  sorrow
rain makes me forget and for a while the world is peaceful
that is why I love the rain from my nook behind my window
