Breaking Mirrors Broken

Breaking Mirrors Broken

A Poem by A.M. Nelson

BROKEN

 into

Deceptions;

Smashed  ICE.

lolling tongues

 & bitter tea.

arching the spine so as to

cl     ick       into     the sun,

cr    isp        like     cold

 but  bronzed like Gods

  I must ('nt)  be looking in the mirror

                                     rorrim

  then shade in white text - ure

  comes looking,

     for my health

                        and

 spirit

                                floating

                backwards

           floating

        like

bubbles

         stuck inside their rainbow dreams,

                  i

                       d

                       e

    pinprick .

     pop!

    glamour                       (gone).

           and,   NOW

 I am just broken             and,

      tanned like clouds.

lovely =-)

drop the "s" off of "backwards"...it's only necessary about 10% of the time, it's a vestigial dative(?) ending left over from a time when English had inclitic cases (and declensions). I put a question mark by dative, because I can't remember if that's the actual case in question and I don't have my etymological dictionary here at work.
Basically it's one of those rules that is usually taught to native speakers of English in the following manner, "If it doesn't sound right, then you can leave it off"...the wonders of English.

You're hot stuff, mister, keep it up. (And, no, that wasn't a pass =-) .
