Man Of My DreamsA Poem by Deepa RagunathanRomantics tend to create a larger-than-life idea of a perfect partner, and look around for someone who fits that impossible description, all the while knowing that it can not be lived up to.
Like waves crashing on the shore,
like birds soaring in the sky, so natural and magical, his kiss softer than a sigh. I could stay there forever, If he were to be by my side. I pulled him just a little closer, And suddenly, I wasn't afraid. He was the storm and the calm, We're the disease and the cure. He soothed and provoked me, My destination and the lure. I opened my eyes and he's gone, Like the mist as morning breaks. I search for him within dreams, For he is the highest of stakes. A perfect dream from my heart, He keeps me awake, waiting. I long to see him in my slumber, Just another mystical meeting. The man of my dreams in real, Being so close yet so far away. Nothing measures, nobody does, Like cheap beer after Chardonnay. He is everything I never knew, I close eyes, hoping you're him, Knowing it is just a silly hope, But I am hung up on a dream. © 2016 Deepa RagunathanReviews
