Thoughts from Atop Your Pedestal

Thoughts from Atop Your Pedestal

A Poem by Deepa Ragunathan
"

What you see in your idol is but a reflection of yourself.

"
The world is spinning fast,
Life is a blur, one giant streak.
I don't know how long I'll last,
My head is light, and I feel weak.
The world spins faster now,
Just as I found some balance.
I might soar like a free dove,
If I let go, gave chaos a chance.
My hands clutch the ropes,
My nails cling to last straws.
Sometime in future, someone mopes,
Mourning this tragic loss.
But for now, I am soaring,
A last flight of freedom.
My life might have been boring,
But in my mind, i ruled a kingdom.
I spin slower now, fainter,
World stands still for just me.
Time stops as I pose for a painter,
Someone who sees me a comet over sea.
If only those eyes saw closer,
Saw the sea beneath that light,
If only they saw my answer-
I was water, reflecting something bright.
