The Departure

The Departure

A Poem by DeepStruggle

Laying down on the bed

Enjoying the sound of nothingness

While the daylight sneaks on us

From the dusty windowpanes

Love has left our hearts

Like the soul leaves the body

And like in every funeral

We shed a tear

Promissed each other we will never forget

And our eyes said some words

Words that our voices can not bear

Eyes fixed on the cieling

As the clock counts the seconds left

Until it's time we decide

To leave the deceased rest

I gently smile

Digging with my eyes the mask

You covered your face with

A moment of truth that for long I yearned to live

I can see your features again

Clearer than ever I can see you now

You take me in your arms

Embrace me for the last time

I know you can feel my heart beating fast

We both know there is something wrong

Our love was supposed to last

You slowly lean back

Like you are avoiding

My eyes

You smile like you have to

And say goodbye

I never wanted to hear these words

Maybe one day all our scars will heal

Maybe a new love will soon appear

But my soul will never truely feel

Alive again

I leave you now to drown me

In the back of your head

An old song that time will make you forget

I leave you now hoping you will never regret

With a kiss cold as this winter day

Cold as our hearts

Cold as our bed

I leave you with nothing but pain
