Rx Trilogy

Rx Trilogy

A Poem by Donni
"

this may be the first of a trilogy

"

Highest of highs
Dispersed with
The lowest of lows
Slapped on a label
That the doctors gave me
Under “My name is”
Groups conversed together
Huddled masses
Yearning to be free
But never given the key
Bottles of solutions
Handed out at the top of every hour
I had a thought
Just can’t get to it
Hidden behind the iron bars
That keep me imprisoned
This is a life sentence
With no chance of parole
Not till the Hippocratic oath
Finally becomes the bottom line
And the mysteries
Finally come to light

This reminded me of bi-polar a term I have seen placed on many of my friends right before they were medicated like crazy. This was a very deep poem full of emotions. I can't imagine being imprisoned in such a way and feeling like there is no way out. I have many thoughts about this one but my mind is still twisting around the words here. Excellent write

The split visual of what the reader might think is a sick person to a Medical student is a nice changing of lanes where a car jumps the freeway.

Nice.

Intriguing...what a unique treatment of this very troubling topic.

Inspired writing...the traps, the bars, the life sentence....so true.

Nice work...!

It's comforting to see someone else put these kind of feelings down, and so eloquently at the same time. This is an amazing piece.

This is written extremely well. Great job.

This is very appropriate for this generation, especially our parents who still believe that every prescription is a lifesaver, when in fact it only distances us from life and living it. Very well written.

Can I write? Yes. But can I write well? Probably not, but I will continue to work at it, because I love the written word- or well written words strung together to convey a great thought. I don't edit.. more..
