Bands of Timidity

Bands of Timidity

A Poem by Donni
"

fear of public speaking and sharing my work.....

"

Oh, that my halted tongue flowed prose with grace and ease
smooth cadence capturing every nuance in perfect accord
an oration without staccato or muffled utterance lapsing into lingering silence
as fear laces up my spine and shutters my mouth with bands of timidity.

There are many things that can make a poem enjoyable; among them, flash and ornately creative expressions of simple concepts. That you can take such a simple subject matter as this, and present it vividly, uniquely, and fancifully without so much as a single unduly mundane word speaks volumes of your potential as a poet.

This poem has done that much for me.

That is one of the true arts of a poet, to present something through language in a way that no one has ever experienced it before. Don't be fooled into thinking that the musicality of meter, rhyme, alliteration, or any of the other clever linguistic tricks is what makes a poem; the formal forms and tricks of poetry are but your icing.

Beautiful, sophisticated language.

I like this poem. It is very short and sweet. You expressed your fear so well. I also loved your choice of vocabulary. You explained something so simple into a beautiful poem. I really appreciate that about this poem. Nice Job! I look forward into reading more of your work.

Can I write? Yes. But can I write well? Probably not, but I will continue to work at it, because I love the written word- or well written words strung together to convey a great thought. I don't edit.. more..
